HERMÈS racing car 1923
We Love: It is an exemplary travel companion and a gorgeous bag, for us it can be used anytime and anywhere. A classic one!
About:Emile-Maurice Hermès designed this tote bag for his wife in 1923 for an automobile event. The French fashion house replaced the old metal closures and added a zipped compartment for the first time in Hermes history. The bolide is named after the fastest cars of the 20th century. In 1916, while Hermès was traveling in North America, he came across numerous automobile factories. One thing in particular caught his eye - he saw the zipper mechanism on the top of a fabric roof and immediately acquired the patent for Hermes handbags. He added this technique to the 1923 handbags and the Bolide was born.
