The Chanel Resort 2019 collection, designed by Karl Lagerfeld, was titled "La Pausa" — named after Coco Chanel's standalone villa in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin in the South of France, which she had built in 1929 and which remains one of her most important retreats to this day. The collection was presented in Hamburg and drew from Chanel's personal history and the timeless design codes of the house. The tweed treasure directly reflects this reference: The words "La Pausa" are spelled out in golden CC buttons made of faux pearls and rhinestones on the four square front pockets.
The midi dress is made of white and cream-colored tweed and features gold-colored and white piping — a craftsmanship characteristic of the house's ateliers on Rue Cambon. The structured turtleneck can be worn in various ways thanks to a front zipper, which gives the treasure a pleasant versatility.
