About: In 1923, Hermès was commissioned to design a dog collar for a customer. The original collar set the tone for subsequent designs; the ring for the leash and the pyramid-shaped studs. The custom-made creation quickly garnered widespread acclaim, and soon after, designer Marie Gerber was asked to reimagine the iconic collar into belts, bracelets, and other jewelry. The Hermès "Collier de Chien" belt was launched in 1927, followed soon by the bracelet and ring. To this day, the CDCs remain among the house's highlights.
