Its design roots lie in the creation of the Constance bag in 1967. It was designed by Catherine Chaillet, who named the model after her newborn daughter, Constance. The bag emerged at a time when fashion was increasingly oriented towards a more active, modern lifestyle. In contrast to many formal handbags of that era, the Constance opted for a compact, functional silhouette with a shoulder strap – practical and clearly expressed at the same time.
The "H" clasp, deliberately integrated as a visible trademark, was particularly influential. This element quickly developed into one of Hermès' most recognizable design codes and was later transferred to smaller leather goods. The Constance Wallet takes up precisely these features and translates them into a handy format that continues to convey the original idea of functionality and clear form to this day.
