We Love: The Chanel icon is crafted from white lambskin leather and features a CC turnlock and gold hardware.
About: The debut of the double flap bag revolutionized fashion history. Until the first bag appeared, they were carried by hand and cumbersome. The double flap bag was not only a style revolution, but also the first bag with a strap that made it easier to carry. After its debut, it soon became a sign of social status for women to carry a bag over their shoulder.
The first Chanel handbag was introduced in 1929. Although the first models had a flap, it wasn't until 1955 that Chanel recognized the advantages of a bag with a strap. From then on, the model became known and popular as the classic Double Flap Bag.
With Karl Lagerfeld, the Double Flap Bag took on a new look in the early 1980s. The inconspicuous Mademoiselle clasp gave way to the striking CC closure, transforming the Classic Flap Bag into an iconic piece. The hardware is 24K gold-plated and particularly durable. Various sizes of the Classic Flap Bag are produced, and depending on the format, it is available as a Double or Single Flap. The Single Flap is no longer manufactured today. The lining is no longer just classic burgundy, and the bag is available in many colors and signature materials like tweed.
