The Rockstud motif debuted in Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri's Autumn/Winter 2010 collection – inspired by the pyramid-shaped "Bugnato" studs that adorn the façades of historic Roman palazzi. The idea behind it was as simple as it was effective: to contrast the classic, feminine heritage of the House of Valentino with something edgier, more modern. In 2016, when Piccioli became the sole Creative Director, he launched the Rockstud Spike as his first independent statement for the House, described by himself as "a punk symbol on a bourgeois object."

The Rockstud Spike Treasure in the small size, made from soft Nappa leather in Nude, combines quilted surfaces with delicate studs that give the Treasure its characteristic playful yet edgy quality. Nude as a colour is one of the most versatile choices for this Treasure; it extends the leg line, matches almost any colour, and lets the Rockstud detail speak for itself. Thanks to the short handle and the detachable shoulder strap, this Treasure can be carried either by hand or over the shoulder.
