Chopard was founded in 1860 by Swiss watchmaker Louis-Ulysse Chopard and remains a family business, having been in the hands of the Scheufele family since 1963. It was Caroline Scheufele, today co-president, who launched the Happy Diamonds jewelry line in 1985 with a playful clown pendant featuring movable stones in its belly. The idea of freeing diamonds from their settings and letting them float freely in a glazed cavity came from Chopard designer Ronald Kurowski, who was inspired by shimmering sunlight on a waterfall in the Black Forest. What began as a watch dial became the signature of an entire collection.
The Happy Diamonds Cross Treasure is crafted from 18-karat white gold and features a cross pendant measuring approximately 4.5 x 2.5 cm, in which ten round brilliant-cut diamonds of VVS1 clarity and E color, with a total weight of 1 carat, move freely. Color E denotes near-colorless diamonds, which are among the rarest in their category. The sparkle of this Treasure is accordingly lively with every movement. The chain measures 44 cm and can be adjusted with the integrated extension link. Swiss craftsmanship, a poetic idea, and a timeless pendant all in one.
