The Toile de Jouy motif is one of the deepest roots of the House of Dior: When Christian Dior opened his first boutique on Avenue Montaigne in Paris in 1947, he had the interiors decorated by artist Christian Bérard with a classic Toile de Jouy pattern. The pastoral print pattern originated in the 18th century in Jouy-en-Josas near Versailles, where Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf, together with designer Jean-Baptiste Huet, printed idyllic landscape and figure scenes on fabric. Since those early years, the motif has been an integral part of the House's design language. Under today's Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, it is reinterpreted season after season, on clothing as well as on accessories and objects of the Maison Dior.
This treasure in warm sand features the characteristic Toile de Jouy motif on a flowing dress in a contemporary, wearable interpretation. The light, earthy color scheme gives the treasure a restrained yet always elegant effect, making it suitable for everyday wear as well as for special occasions. A piece that embodies the history and present of the House of Dior.
