The Birkin bag was designed by Jean-Louis Dumas for Jane Birkin in the early 1980s after the two met by chance on a flight. The desire for a bag that was both functional and elegant led to the creation of a handcrafted model. The Birkin 35 was one of the first sizes introduced and represents balanced proportions between everyday wear and presence. The Retourne version, with inward-worked seams, gives the bag a softer contour. The Togo leather used only became established in the 1990s and is now one of Hermès' most popular materials. Made from calfskin, it has a fine, slightly grained surface, is durable, and pleasant to the touch. The color black is one of the Maison's classic hues and is effective regardless of season or trend. Combined with the palladium hardware, it creates an expression of calm clarity. The history, the material, and the precise craftsmanship make this bag a lasting symbol of attitude.
