The "Brides de Gala" scarf, measuring 140 x 140 cm, is one of Hermès' most iconic designs. Crafted from a blend of 70% cashmere and 30% silk, it combines pleasant warmth with a soft, flowing feel. The hand-rolled edges underscore the meticulous craftsmanship for which Hermès has always been known. Designed by Hugo Grygkar in 1957, the motif depicts two ornately decorated bridles, symmetrically arranged—a tribute to the brand's equestrian heritage. The name "Brides de Gala" translates as "parade bridle" and refers to the ceremonial ceremonies in which such accessories were traditionally used.
Over the years, the design has been reinterpreted in numerous color variations – from classic, high-contrast to subtle tone-on-tone combinations. Despite its decorative details, the pattern remains clearly structured and versatile. With its generous format, the scarf can be worn in a variety of ways: as a wrap, classically around the neck, or loosely draped over the shoulders. A timeless piece that combines history, craftsmanship, and everyday practicality – understated yet expressive.
